Remoku — Privacy Policy

Effective date: October 17, 2026

This policy applies to the iOS app Remoku, a remote control for Roku devices, App Store ID 1658640524, bundle ID com.roku.app, published by WL Online Marketing LLC under the App Holdings name (“we”, “us”).

In short:

Local network and your Roku

To find your Roku, Remoku asks iOS for Local Network access, sends a discovery request on your Wi-Fi network, and then talks to your Roku directly using Roku’s External Control Protocol. It reads your Roku’s name, model and its “Control by mobile apps” setting so that it can tell you when that setting blocks the remote. Your Roku’s name and network address are stored on your iPhone and are not sent to us. When you use the keyboard, the text goes to your Roku only, the way a Roku remote’s keyboard would. You can turn off Local Network access at any time in iOS Settings › Remoku (the remote then can’t reach your Roku).

Analytics we run ourselves

Remoku sends usage events to our own analytics service (analytics2.appchair.com, operated for us by App Holdings). Events include app installs and launches, paywall views, and whether connecting to your Roku worked (for example “Roku connected”, the Roku’s “Control by mobile apps” setting, “button refused by the Roku”, “Roku unreachable”, and which help screen was shown). They never include your Roku’s name or network address, the text you type, or your Wi-Fi details. Each event carries an identifier created by the app for this device, the app version, the iOS version, the device model, and your device’s locale. Like any internet service, our server also receives your IP address, and it uses it to work out your approximate location (country and region). If you buy a subscription, the app also sends the purchase details Apple provides on your device (product, price, currency, transaction identifiers and the App Store receipt) so that we can count sales, trials and renewals. If you installed Remoku from an Apple Search Ads ad, the app sends Apple’s attribution token so we can see which ad campaign led to the install; Apple’s attribution service doesn’t identify you.

Google Firebase

Remoku uses Google Firebase Analytics to measure how the app is used, and Firebase Crashlytics to receive crash reports (what the app was doing when it crashed, the device model and the iOS version) so that we can fix crashes. Firebase uses an app instance identifier. If you allow tracking (see below), Firebase Analytics may also collect your device’s advertising identifier (IDFA), which can be used to measure the ads that led you to the app. Google processes this data under the Google Privacy Policy and the Firebase privacy information.

Tracking and your choice

Remoku shows Apple’s App Tracking Transparency prompt. If you choose “Allow”, your advertising identifier and usage data may be used together with data from other companies’ apps and websites to measure advertising. If you choose “Ask App Not to Track”, the advertising identifier isn’t available to the app or to Firebase. You can change your choice at any time in iOS Settings › Privacy & Security › Tracking. Remoku shows no ads.

Subscriptions and RevenueCat

Remoku’s premium features are offered as auto-renewing subscriptions, some with a free trial. Apple processes all payments; we don’t receive your name, Apple Account or payment details. Remoku uses RevenueCat to keep track of subscription status. RevenueCat receives the App Store transaction information, an anonymous app user identifier and, if you came from an Apple Search Ads ad, Apple’s attribution token. RevenueCat processes this data under the RevenueCat Privacy Policy. You can manage or cancel a subscription in iOS Settings › your name › Subscriptions. Apple’s handling of purchases is covered by the Apple Privacy Policy.

Notifications

Remoku may ask permission to show notifications. You can turn them off at any time in iOS Settings › Notifications › Remoku.

Email

If you contact us from the app, your mail app opens a message with the app’s identifier for your device and whether you have a subscription, so that we can look into your problem. Nothing is sent until you send the email yourself. We use what you send only to answer you and to fix problems.

Children

Remoku is a general-audience utility and is not directed to children under 13. We don’t knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.

Retention and security

Data stored on your iPhone stays there until you delete it or uninstall the app. Analytics events are kept for as long as they are useful to understand how the app is used, and no longer than 3 years. Emails you send us are kept only as long as needed to help you. Data sent to our analytics service and to our service providers travels over encrypted connections; the app talks to your Roku over your own home network.

Your choices and rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct or delete personal data, or to object to its use. To ask about the data linked to the app’s identifier for your device, or to have it deleted, email us from the app (Settings › Support) so that the message includes that identifier, and we will help.

Trademarks

Roku is a trademark of Roku, Inc. Remoku is an independent app and is not affiliated with or endorsed by Roku, Inc.

Changes

If we change this policy, we will update the effective date above and, for material changes, tell you in the app.
